Let’s Play Super Bowl Surprise

We all know the names Roethlisberger, Parker, Ward, Holmes, El, Warner, Fitzgerald, Boldin, Breaston, James, but will they even matter today? With two weeks of hype before the Super Bowl we hear about every angle and story out there. The big named players are interviewed, their glowing stats are reviewed e.g. however previous Super Bowls have taught us to look for the unsung hero. The last three Super Bowls have featured  Ben Roethlisberger, Peyton Manning, and Eli Manning. All three of those players were on the winning side of their games. However they were not the difference or the story of those games although the media will always say the QB won the game. Those three combined to go 53 of 93 for 57%,  625 yards,  3 TDs, and 4 Picks. Those are not great numbers from QBs always on the side of praise.

The heroes in these games were Antwaan Randle El who threw the only touchdown pass for the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XL. Dominic Rhodes who had 121 total yards and a touchdown in Super Bowl XLI for the Indianapolis Colts. David Tyree catches his first touchdown of the year and then tops it off with a 32 yard catch holding the ball to his helmet while Rodney Harrison is trying to kill him, in Super Bowl XLII for the New York Giants.

So today while you are watching the game remember that it may be the little guy that may make the difference. Who will it be? Who do you think it will be? Players like Jerheme Urban, Roderick Hood, Nate Washington, & Casey Hampton may all make huge plays. Mitch Berger with 19 punts inside the 20 this year could play a huge factor of keeping the Cardinals offense pinned deep so the Steelers can use their defense to score. So chances are the little guy will be the difference so be on the look out.
