Wells Hurting, Butler Improving

One of the most interesting things about the week leading up to NFL games is the injury reports that come out from each team. In recent years, the St. Louis injury report has been extremely long on almost a weekly basis, but this week is quite different. I know that’s to be expected since it’s the first week, but it’s still a great thing for Week 1. For the Rams, safety James Butler is the only player currently listed on the report, as he is still limited due to an MCL injury. He has been working his way into practice over the last few days, and it looks like the team is hopeful he will be able to go Sunday. If not, Craig Dahl will get the nod in Butler’s place.

Arizona’s injury list looks quite a bit different, which is a good thing for us. The most notable injury is to running back Beanie Wells, who still hasn’t been able to participate this week. If Wells is unable to go, that eliminates a huge weapon for the Cards, especially considering they will likely rely heavily on the running game with Derek Anderson under center. I’ll keep everyone updated on his status before Sunday, but this could heavily impact the game.

For those of you wondering, Cards wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald has been limited some this week as well, but coach Ken Whisenhunt said he will be full-go on Sunday. He was back today, so we will still have to deal with one of the better receivers in the game.

In a bit of an unrelated note, I served as a correspondent for an Internet website/web show on behalf of the Rams this week, so check out thedleague.com if you want to see a very well-done NFL preview show. I just want to say thanks to the guys over there for getting me involved, and everyone should head over and give it a look.
