Jones Attending The Draft
There has been plenty of talk about whether the incoming rookies will be in attendance at this year’s NFL Draft, but we know now that Alabama wide receiver Julio Jones will be in the building on draft night. I know that many people believe that Jones will be gone when the Rams pick at 14, but I believe he will still be around. Here are five reasons why I believe Jones will be available for St. Louis in this year’s draft. 1. Receivers Tend To Fall: Other than the absolute top-flight guys, receivers tend to go a little bit later [...]
Rams Denied Comp Picks
I’m back, but unfortunately I come bearing bad news. It’s not that bad, but it’s not good either. The NFL handed out 32 compensatory for the upcoming draft, and the Rams did not receive one. It’s only the second time in the last 10 years that the Rams will be without a comp pick, so they will have to make due with their regular allotment of choices. Comp picks are given out based on a team’s free agent pickups and losses from the previous season, and how those players performed for their new team. I don’t know the exact formula [...]
Upcoming Events for Those Who Love All Things Rams
It may not be the regular season, but for any die-hard St. Louis Ram’s fan, there are always events going on. The team is constantly involved in the local community and there’s usually some upcoming event on the schedule to involves fan with the team. If you’re looking to get into the spirit and want to take part in all-things rams, you can join many online communities through the Ram’s website or it’s official Facebook page. You might be the kind of committed fan that throws huge game watching parties or uses self-storage facilities, like StorageMart, to house all of [...]
I’m On A Boat!
Just wanted to let everyone know that I will be on vacation for the next five days, so my posting on the site will probably be limited. I am down in Florida to relax on the beach and take in some St. Louis Cardinals Spring Training games, so I probably won’t have much time to get to the computer. I will try my best to hit any news that breaks while I’m gone, but if not I will be back in full force on Tuesday. Have a good weekend, because I know I will.
McD As QB Coach
In a bit of unsurprising, yet still relevant, news, Rams’ offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels will also serve as the team’s quarterback coach for the upcoming season. There was some speculation that McD’s brother, Ben, may come aboard to serve in the same capacity that he did in Denver, but the Rams put that to bed with today’s report. McD served as OC and QB coach for the Patriots, so he has plenty of experience doing both. Also, coach Spags thinks the move will work out, as he’s happy that McD and Sam Bradford will be working so close together when [...]
League Makes Rule Changes
The big news to come out of the owners meetings today were some new rule changes that could greatly affect the game we love. The two biggest headline-makers were the changes to kickoffs and the use of instant replay. Let’s start with instant replay. The league will now require the booth reviewer to look at every scoring play to verify that it is actually a score. The reasoning behind this move is so coaches don’t have to burn challenges on scoring plays, thus allowing coaches to preserve those challenges for other plays. Coaches will be allowed two challenges per game, [...]
Stan Speaks
Controlling owner Stan Kroenke is, by nature, a very private man. He’s not the kind of guy who is going to be in the headlines every week. That means, when he does speak, it’s fairly newsworthy even if he doesn’t have much to say. Kroenke spoke to the media at the NFL owners meetings on Monday, and he did shed some light on some issues going on with the organization. If you want to see everything he had to say, check out the article at stltoday.com. Kroenke didn’t have much to say when it came to the labor issue, and [...]
Temple Safety To Visit Rams
According to a league source, the Rams are among a group of teams who will host a visit from Temple safety Jaiquawn Jarrett. It’s no secret that the Rams have a major need at safety, so this move is not at all a surprise. As far as Jarrett goes, I like him. He played at Temple, so he didn’t face a ton of top-level competition, but he showed himself to be more than capable at the Senior Bowl. Jarrett looked pretty solid at the Combine, as he ran a 4.54 40 and posted a 30 inch vertical. For the most [...]
Commish Sends Players A Letter
I still have other things I want to get to, but when NFL news hits, I have no choice but to let you know. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell sent out a letter to all NFL players on Thursday informing them of the deal owners put on the table to the NFLPA before negotiations were silenced. According to the letter, here were the main points outlined in the owners’ deal to the players: A salary cap for 2011 that would avoid a negative financial impact for veterans. Extensive changes in off-season work requirements that would promote player health and safety while also [...]
Letter From The Rams
You can say what you want about the Rams organization, but you have to respect the fact that Executive VP Kevin Demoff and the rest of the bigwigs involved with the team took the time to write a letter to the fans informing them of the current labor issues and where the team stands. If you want to read the whole thing, go to stlouisrams.com and read the letter in its entirety. Here are some excerpts from the letter. “Dear Rams Fans, Fresh off of a 2010 season that re-energized our fan base and reminded St. Louis of the collective [...]
