Rumors: St. Louis Rams Interested In Nick Foles

At the conclusion of the 2014 season, both head coach Jeff Fisher and general manager Les Snead expressed that they would like to have quarterback Sam Bradford back, but that they would most likely bring in somebody to compete with him.

According to Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com, it looks like they could have their eye on somebody. Parks says that several teams, including the St. Louis Rams, have interest in Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles.

It remains unclear if the Eagles would even be willing to trade Foles. With the uncertainty of whether or not Chip Kelly will trade up for Marcus Mariota, the Eagles quarterback situation remains a question mark.

However, if the Eagles do bring in a more mobile quarterback and decide to trade Foles, there is no question he would be a great option for the Rams.

Foles has a 16-4 regular season record over the past two years, and had the Eagles in a solid position to make the playoffs for the second consecutive season.

While the Eagles quarterback does have four losses, aside from the 49ers game this season, in two of Foles’ last three losses, he left the field with less than 5:00 remaining with his defense having a lead.

Not to mention in two of those losses he had the ball inside the five yard line with four chances to win it. Unfortunately bad play-calling ruined those opportunities.

While Foles did regress this past year, it was just two seasons ago that he threw for 27 touchdowns and two interceptions. He still has a career completion percentage of 61.6, and he has thrown 46 touchdowns to only 17 interceptions in the past three years.

Foles’ regression this past season can be more attributed to the offensive line issues that the Eagles had early on in the season.  At times last year, as many as four starters were out of the lineup for the Eagles.

According to Pro Football Focus(subscription required), Foles was the most hit quarterback this season weeks one through ten.

Foles would be a great option at quarterback for the Rams, however, they would still need to make beefing up the offensive a priority this offseason.

What it would take to get Foles or if he is even available for trade is still a question. However, it would most likely take a second round pick and well as possibly a conditional third or fourth round pick.

The Rams will be looking to bring in some competition for Bradford this offseason, and it looks like Foles is just one guy that the Rams are interested in.
