Los Angeles Rams players are hungry for a taste of the playoffs, but head coach Jeff Fisher’s last playoff win was back in 2003…
Los Angeles Rams Head Coach Jeff Fisher will be entering his 5th season with the team, as he has yet to reach the playoffs with the Rams organization. Over 56,000 fans have made a deposit for season tickets for the upcoming season, hence the time to win is now Coach. With the Rams relocation to Los Angeles, Trading for the 1st pick in the 2016 NFL Draft and the ‘Hard Knocks’ Deal, This could be the worse or best season for Fisher’s era with the Rams.
Jeff Fisher finished last season with a 7-9 record. Once again another not so horrible, but not so great season, we like to call this just below average. Will Fisher be able to lead the Los Angeles Rams to the playoffs? By looking at his records as a NFL head coach, it’s not so positive as some fans may think.
Fisher has coached in 326 games, with a record of 169-156-1. He has a winning percentage of .520, which falls into the category of average. In those 21 seasons of coaching, Fisher has had five .500 records. The only positive sign from Fisher and the Rams for the upcoming season is the amount of moves they have down in the offseason. By the looks of it, Fisher wants to win, but can he coach them?
First, let’s start with the defense. Los Angeles has one of the top defensive fronts in the game today, even with the departure of Chris Long. I’m sure former Jets first-round pick Quinton Coples will do a great job in Los Angeles in the next two-years. They also re-signed top cornerback Trumaine Johnson, and added some extra help. The defense looks to finish once again in the top 10.

Now, the offense that was nowhere to be found last year. With the move to the 1st pick in the NFL Draft the Rams will select either Jared Goff or Carson Wentz. The Rams might actually have a franchise quarterback in Los Angeles. Shown by the Broncos last year, defense does win championships. If the Rams can improve the offense, they might have a shot.
Then again, the team’s performance does fall on the head coach. Los Angeles may have all the pieces next year, but can they solve the puzzle? Fisher had seven or eight wins in 10 of his last 21 seasons coaching. Half of his coaching can be basically described with one word: Average. However don’t worry, Fisher also has playoff experience. But by looking at his playoff record, once again another below average record. (5-6 in the playoffs)
Fisher is putting all of his eggs in the basket this season, with the T.V show, draft pick and move back to Los Angeles, if Fisher does not lead the Rams to the playoffs this up coming season, he does not deserve to coach with the Rams. The only scenario where Fisher does stay, is if the Rams finish with an above .500 record but somehow miss the playoffs because of a very tough NFC.
