All eyes will be on Jared Goff heading into training camp after the Los Angeles Rams selected him No. 1 in the 2016 NFL Draft.

After finishing the 2015 season with a 7-9 record, the argument could be made the Los Angeles Rams would have finished with a couple of more wins with a better quarterback running the offense. Unfortunately, the Nick Foles experiment was a complete bust and while Case Keenum has been discussed as the starter for 2016, early signs indicate Jared Goff will get the starting job as a rookie.

Whether it ends up being this season or the next, it will only be a matter of time before Goff is the leader of this offense when considering everything the Rams gave up to the Tennessee Titans to move up to No. 1 in this year’s draft. During his sophomore and junior seasons at California, Goff threw for 8,687 passing yards to go along with 78 touchdown passes and just 20 interceptions–so it’s easy to see why Los Angeles was willing to give up so much to move up to No. 1.

With all of the uncertainty surrounding the offense, there’s no telling what to expect from Goff if he does end up becoming the starter for the Rams as a rookie. While Todd Gurley–who could emerge as a top-five running back in 2016–will certainly make things easier on offense, it’s the wide receiver department that could determine how successful Goff’s transition is to the NFL during his first season.

Tavon Austin‘s fifth-year option was picked up in the offseason and after finding the end zone 10 total times last year, the wideout knows a big season could lead to a hefty contract beyond 2016. If Austin and Kenny Britt–who also happens to be entering his final year of his contract–can live up to the hype, Goff could be in for an impressive rookie season if Jeff Fisher makes him the starter right away in Week 1.
