Los Angeles Rams head coach Jeff Fisher hopes to get quarterback Jared Goff more playing time during the team’s second preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

There was plenty of hype surrounding the debut of rookie quarterback Jared Goff with the Los Angeles Rams squaring off against the Dallas Cowboys, but the No. 1 pick was limited to only playing most of the second quarter. Jeff Fisher made the right decision to rest his new quarterback in the second half after dealing with soreness in his non-throwing shoulder, but if all goes well–the Rams could see more of Goff in the second week of preseason.

Fisher recently discussed how he would like to get more snaps for Goff in the second game and even hinted the rookie will most likely take reps with the first team this weekend against the Chiefs. Goff experienced some of the struggles one would expect from a rookie in his debut against the Cowboys and was even picked off on his second pass attempt.

Of course, some of his teammates didn’t make things any easier for Goff with some of their dropped passes that could have made a difference on potential scoring drives.

Still, there’s obviously no reason for anyone to panic over Goff completing just 4 of 9 passes for 38 yards to go along with the one interception. If anything, Goff can learn from this preseason experience and show the Rams why he was worth taking at No. 1 with a strong performance this weekend against the Chiefs.
