If the Los Angeles Rams are going to have any chance of defeating the New Orleans Saints, they will need a strong performance by Jared Goff.

There was plenty of excitement surrounding the first career start of Jared Goff in Week 11 against the Miami Dolphins, but unfortunately the rookie failed to provide the spark the offense of the Los Angeles Rams needed as they went on to lose the game 14-10. With an upcoming matchup against the New Orleans Saints, the rookie quarterback will need to elevate his game to a whole new level if the Rams are going to have any shot at pulling off a road win in this one.

With Goff only completing 17 of 31 passes for 134 yards and no touchdowns against the Dolphins, it’s understandable as to why there’s concern surrounding the Rams’ offense heading into Sunday’s game. Not only do the Saints have one of the league’s highest-powered offenses, but they’re starting to hit desperation mode with a 4-6 record heading into Week 12.

Field goals simply won’t be enough for Los Angeles as the only chance of beating New Orleans on the road will be to figure out a way to overcome their offensive woes and put together a few touchdown drives. As Gary Klein from The Los Angeles Times recently discussed, the Rams will hopefully allow Goff to take more chances downfield by throwing deep more when he makes his first career start on the road against the Saints.

For a team with only 39 points over their last four games, let’s hope Klein is right when it comes to Los Angeles allowing Goff to take more chances through the air when considering how desperate the offense is for a spark this late in the season.
