Former Rams wide receiver Danny Amendola recorded a two-point conversion with less than a minute left for the New England Patriots to tie Super Bowl 51 up against the Atlanta Falcons.

If there was anything to takeaway from the 2016 season, it would be the Los Angeles Rams could have used a wide receiver like Danny Amendola, who is now a member of the New England Patriots. The former Rams receiver was fortunate enough to be playing in Super Bowl 51 for the Patriots against the Atlanta Falcons, and thanks to Amendola’s heroics, football fans witnessed overtime for the first time in NFL history.

After James White found the end zone to cut the lead by the Falcons down to 28-26, it was Amendola that came up for Tom Brady when his quarterback needed him the most by catching a two-point conversion to tie the Super Bowl up at 28-28. Even if Amendola ended up falling short of the end zone, New England would have ended up with another opportunity due to a penalty on Atlanta’s end.

See below the intensity behind this catch by Amendola:

Give Brady credit for taking advantage of having a speedy wideout like Amendola since the Falcons were focusing most of their attention on some of the other key weapons on the Patriots’ offense, such as Julian Edelman and Chris Hogan. After spending four seasons with the Rams from 2009-12, it’s good to see Amendola making an impact for New England in the passing game, as he’s wrapping up his fourth year with the team.

Then again, this has to be a tough pill for Los Angeles to swallow when seeing the amount of success their former wideout is having in New England when they certainly could use all of the help they can get for Jared Goff.
