By joining the Los Angeles Rams, cornerback Kayvon Webster will reunite with defensive coordinator Wade Phillips.

Despite placing the franchise tag on Trumaine Johnson for the second year in a row, the Los Angeles Rams were in search of another cornerback to add for Wade Phillips‘ defense during the 2017 season. Luckily for the Rams, the search seemed to go quicker than expected after the team was able to reach an agreement with former Denver Broncos cornerback Kayvon Webster.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Los Angeles agreed to a two-year deal with Webster, which will reunite him with Phillips, as the two spent the last two seasons together in Denver. Apparently, the Rams have been showing interest in Webster for quite some time, and when considering this was the cornerback’s first visit with a team in free agency, it was good to see the two sides not waste any time in order to get a deal done as quickly as possible.

Even though he only has two career starts in the NFL over his first four seasons, Webster has received plenty of high praise from some of his former teammates who seemed to know it was only a matter of time before he finally earned a starting job. With Webster officially on board, it will be exciting to see what he brings to the table during his first season with the Rams.

Not to mention, Webster already has an advantage of being familiar with Phillips’ defensive system, and realizes how lucky he is to have this opportunity with his new team.

Los Angeles may have only finished with four wins during the 2016 season, but this team has been making the necessary moves to make sure that doesn’t happen again during Sean McVay‘s first season as head coach. Between the latest addition of Webster along with one of the top signings of free agency in Andrew Whitworth, the Rams seem to be giving their fans plenty of reasons to be excited about what could be in store for 2017.
