Kenny Britt joined the Cleveland Browns in free agency after spending the last three seasons as a member of the Los Angeles Rams.

Even though the Los Angeles Rams never seemed to be in the running to bring back Kenny Britt in free agency, it was quite the surprise to see the wideout end up signing with the Cleveland Browns when considering how many other teams were showing interest. Not only is Britt coming off an impressive 2016 campaign in which he caught 68 passes for 1,002 yards to go along with five touchdowns, but he gave the Rams their first 1,000-yard receiver since the 2007 season.

Despite all of this, it seemed clear the organization wanted to move on from one of the guys Jeff Fisher brought on board three years ago, but a fresh start with a new team always seemed like the best option, no matter what. Plus, from Britt’s perspective, there’s a good chance he wouldn’t have received the type of deal (four-year, $32.5 million) Cleveland was willing to offer from another team, so why wouldn’t he choose Hue Jackson‘s squad at the end of the day?

The Browns may be coming off a disappointing 1-15 finish last year, but this appears to be a team moving in the right direction when looking at the moves made in free agency along with the all of the picks they have in the next two drafts. When taking all of this into consideration, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to see Britt defend his decision on Twitter by posting a message directed towards all of the individuals who criticized his desire to join Cleveland.

Only time will tell when it comes to whether Britt will be worth all that money for the Browns, but at least the Rams don’t have to worry about overpaying another wide receiver like they did last offseason with Tavon Austin. Los Angeles was obviously thrilled over Britt ending their 1,000-yard receiver drought last year, but there’s no chance the team would have come close to spending the type of money Cleveland is going to pay him over the next four years.

As for what the Rams plan on doing to improve their current situation at wide receiver, here’s to hoping Robert Woods turns into a potential steal in free agency, even if his career high of 699 receiving yards is a reason for concern.
