Gerald McCoy would make no sense for Rams after moving on from Ndamukong Suh

The Los Angeles Rams are smart enough to realize that signing Gerald McCoy after moving on from Ndamukong Suh would make no sense.

During the offseason, the Los Angeles Rams faced a difficult decision in regards to moving on from Ndamukong Suh since despite the temptation to bring him back for another year, deep down they knew from a financial perspective, it would be too much.

So with the Rams making the decision to move on from Suh before the veteran would eventually go on to agree to a one-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it’s safe to assume the same can be said with Gerald McCoy.

Believe it or not, Suh is actually filling in the void left by McCoy after the Buccaneers decided to move on from their former star defender after nine seasons, which has resulted in numerous teams expressing interest.

Talent wise, McCoy appears to have plenty of gas left in the old tank to make a strong enough impact on defense for a serious contender to put them in better position to make a run at the Super Bowl during the 2019 season.

But as tempting as it would be for the Rams to add another playmaker to continue the win-now mindset, why would they go for McCoy after moving on from Suh?

As mentioned before, money was one of the main factors behind the decision of Los Angeles to move on from Suh, and after watching the veteran earn a one-year, $9.25 million from Tampa Bay, some believe McCoy could even end up earning more.

In other words, it would make zero sense for the Rams to consider McCoy if keeping Suh around would have ended up being cheaper for the defending NFC champions.

Rightfully so, there’s a reason why McCoy has so many teams expressing interest in his services, and it’s only a matter of time before he does find his next team for the 2019 season since training camp will be here before football fans know it.

Maybe if this scenario were taking place around this time last year, the Rams would have been more open to the possibility of McCoy since no player was off limits during their win-now phase.

But since the circumstances are a little different, and Los Angeles knows that kind of money can be used elsewhere, at least the possibility of signing McCoy seems like it can be ruled out.
