The St. Louis Rams and San Francisco 49ers have always been a rivalry to watch in the NFC West, and that didnt change even though the 49ers moved away from the classic Candlestick Park. Injury plagued and all, the Rams defeated the 49ers in dramatic fashion 13-10 to move to 3-5 on the season.

The Rams offense only tallied 198 and turned the ball over twice, but when they needed points they got them. Down 10-3 and the game seemed lost, Robert Quinn forced Kaepernick to fumble and it was recovered by Sims, which helped set up the Rams’ three-play scoring drive in which Austin Davis completed a pass to Kenny Britt who went 21-yards for a touchdown.

After 49ers kicker missed a 55-yard field goal, the Rams went into the half tied 10-10 although they did everything they could to try and prevent that from happening when Tavon Austin was almost tackled for a safety trying to return the missed field goal.

Greg Zuerlein kicked the go ahead 39-yard field goal to put the Rams up 13-10 with just over six minutes to play. After exchanging possessions, the 49ers got a chance to tie the game with just over three minutes to go.

On the final 49ers drive Kaepernick completed long passes to Stevie Johnson and Anquan Boldin. Trumaine Johnson in his first game back then helped San Francisco get closer with back-to-back pass interference and holding penalties to put the 49ers inside the five yard line

On third-and-goal from the , the 49ers called a quarterback sneak and as Kaepernick got into the pile fumbled as he went  short of the goal line. With 49ers players raising their hands signaling touchdowns, line back James Laurinaitis came out of the pile with the ball.

The Rams got their third win of the season and second in three weeks against difficult NFC West opponents. Despite being injured last week, the Rams overcame all of that and a few penalties for an impressive win against a division rival. The Rams are on the road for the third straight week next Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals.
