Why didn’t the St. Louis Rams sign Tim Tebow?

On april 19th, 2015, Adam Schefter reported that the Philadelphia Eagles were signing free agent quarterback Tim Tebow to a 1-year contract.

The  27-year-old Tebow first worked out with the Eagles a month ago and will now join recently required, Sam Bradford from your St. Louis Rams, Mark Sanchez and Matt Barkley on the quarterback depth chart.

This now gives the Eagles three former first-round drafted quarterbacks.

Tebow will try to jump-start an NFL career that has been on hold since he played his last NFL game in 2012 for the New York Jets.

So, why didn’t the Rams take a chance on him?

It is well-known that the Rams’ head coach Jeff Fisher isn’t a good offensive mind. So why not bring in a player who can make things happen on the ground?

Tre Mason appears to be one of the best young talents at the running back position, so why not bring in Tebow to line up beside him and run the ball?

Tebow is not an NFL quarterback. If it were not for his miraculous overtime touchdown to Demaryius Thomas in the playoffs to beat the Steelers, Tebow would have next to nothing beside his name as a quarterback.

Tebow carries the lowest QBR rating of current quarterbacks with a 33.4 rating, more than a point worse than that of Geno Smith.

However, Tebow is a football player, and a pretty good one at that if you can find the right spot for him on your team.

He is still young, an extremely hard worker and an a great motivational speaker. Those are all things any coach would love to have on their team. Which is most likely why Chip Kelly signed him.

Tebow, who has been working for ESPN and as an analyst for the SEC Network, has continued to train with throwing coach Tom House, who also has worked with New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

Tebow would instantly be a fan favorite on the Rams. Tebow would sell thousands of jerseys, would sell out games and would bring a lot of attention to the Rams organization.

The Rams are one of the least talked about teams in the NFL. They are talked about as much as the Tennessee Titans are.

The Rams also play in arguably the toughest division in the NFL. You are forced to play the Seattle Seahawks, Arizona Cardinals and San francisco 49ers two times each a year. Why not add some flavor to your franchise and sign Tebow to a league minimum contract and see where it goes?

But, it’s too late now. the leagues most interesting team, the Eagles, beat the Rams too it. But in the words of Tebow. It’s never too late!

“I will remain in relentless pursuit of continuing my lifelong dream of being an NFL quarterback,” Tebow wrote on Twitter after New England released him.
