Keeny Britt will be entering his second year with the Rams and is looking to solidify his spot atop the depth chart. Like it or not, Britt is the Rams only shot at a number one wideout heading into training camp. Britt is still only breaking the surface of his young career. However, inconsistency and injuries have prevented him from truly breaking through.

Britt started his NFL career with the Titans and head coach Jeff Fisher in 2009 when Tennessee selected him with the 30th overall selection in the first round. He would go on to have a very nice rookie campaign playing in all 16 games racking up 701 receiving yards and three touchdowns. His sophomore season with the Titans would prove even better with 775 yards receiving and nine touchdowns seeing action in 12 games. However, it was all downhill after that.
In the beginning of 2011, Britt would suffer a serious knee injury tearing both his ACL and MCL. Entering 2012, looking to recover completely from the knee injury, he was served a one game suspension to begin the year due to numerous run-ins with the law leading up to the start of the season. Without much to show in the previous three years, Britt would sign a one year deal with the Rams in 2014. He would prove to be a steal at his $1.4 M salary. Britt hauled in 48 catches for 748 yards and three scores in his first year with St. Louis, good enough for tops on the team.
In March of this year, Britt and the Rams agreed to a two-year deal worth close to $14M, with over $4M guaranteed. That’s a hefty price to pay for a career underachiever. However, there is some reward to be had in all that risk. Britt will turn 27-years-old this year, still in the prime of his career. Having returned to play under Fisher, the man who drafted him in the first round in 2009, has returned a little fire to this once promising athlete.
Britt has an opportunity to become the number one passing option for St. Louis and quarterback Nick Foles. He has experience, posts solid numbers when healthy and now has the contract to warrant the scrutiny that comes along with it. Look for big things from Britt this year. He wont light the world on fire, but a solid 750 receiving yards paired with 5-7 touchdowns is very manageable, and extremely important to the Rams.
