St. Louis Rams Sunday morning news and updates from around the NFL

Good morning St. Louis Rams fans! We are a little more than a quarter of the way through this 2015 football season and our Rams are sitting at 2-3, and second place in the NFC West. St. Louis has posted some very nice wins against Seattle and Arizona, but also had some disappointing missteps against Washington and Pittsburgh. Green Bay added insult to injury, but traveling to play the Packers, a Super Bowl favorite, is no easy task for any team.

Head Coach Jeff Fisher and his staff seem to have this team playing at a high level for the most part. Quarterback Nick Foles has been serviceable, but can improve. Rookie running back Todd Gurley has made his presence felt in a big way since his debut against the Steelers. The defensive unit has been superb in almost every aspect. However, if there is one glaring area of concern, it would be the offensive line. A line, that is now down its lone veteran in right guard Rodger Saffold, will need to find a way to come together and put in a much better effort moving forward.

Nick Wagoner over at ESPN.com spoke with starting linebacker and defensive captain James Lauriniatis about how this team needs to handle themselves moving forward if they hope to salvage the season. Having played a tough schedule through six weeks, now on the bye week, the Rams have a stretch of games through the next five weeks and can certainly turn things around.

It was a great day earlier this year when the St. Louis Rams put on a clinic in Arizona and defeated the, then undefeated, Cardinals 24-22, but the score never felt that close. Now, the word around Arizona is that quarterback Carson Palmer is godsend for the organization and can carry them to the Super Bowl. While Palmer is playing at a very high level after injuries that would’ve ended the careers of lesser players, let’s keep things in perspective. There’s a reason Palmer has played 13 seasons in this league and none have ever brought him to the promised land.

Marshawn Lynch and his Seattle Seahawks are facing some serious adversity in 2015. A team, projected by many to return to the Super Bowl, is now sitting at 2-3 and a third place position in the NFC West. A big part of that, similar to the Rams woes, has been a pitiful offensive line in front of Lynch and quarterback Russell Wilson. Lynch has not been the same since a below-average performance Week 1 against the Rams. Since then he has only appeared in two games and has totaled 128-rushing yards, 73 coming against St. Louis.

The San Francisco 49ers have struggled mightily this season. They sit dead last in the NFC West and hold a 1-4 record. A lot of their struggles have come at the hands of quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Kaepernick, on the heels of his mega-deal, is struggling to find his receivers and move the ball downfield. A team that lost a large number of contributing players form years past, most on defense however, are now finding themselves in a serious downward spiral. However, there are still folks out there that believe Kaepernick is the long-term answer in the Bay area.
