Rookie running back Todd Gurley has already found his way to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, well, his equipment has. The St. Louis Rams running back will have his cleats and jersey from Sunday’s win over the San Francisco 49ers displayed in Canton, OH for the foreseeable future.

Sunday, Gurley set the record for most rushing yards by a rookie running back through his first four games of the season with 575. Gurley accumulated those 575-yards on just 94 attempts and has added three touchdowns.

In addition to the rookie-best total, he also became the first rookie running back to rush for 125-plus yards in four consecutive games, and his 575 rushing yards are third most in his first five games behind only two others, Adrian Peterson and former Rams Eric Dickerson.

Gurley declined to participate in the post-game jersey swap, as is tradition for some players after games, on Sunday. It’s a safe assumption someone from the St. Louis staff asked him to hold onto the jersey for other means.

It’s been a busy week for Gurley as he was also named a spokesman for the popular candy “Jolly Rancher.” The candy, produced by Hershey, is apparently Gurley’s addiction as proclaimed on Twitter back in January. This is nothing like Seattle Seahawk’s Marshawn Lynch and his obsession with Skittles, but it’s certainly a unique endorsement for a professional athlete.

Gurley was featured in a 15-second ad that debuted online on Thursday and will be featured during NFL games on Sunday. Gurley can be seen wearing a tutu and singing the popular children’s song “I’m a little Teapot” in the ad spot.

Gurley spoke about the ad and his love for the candy.

"“Wearing the tutu wasn’t all that bad.” Gurley said. He mentioned his love of the fruit flavored candy was always around growing up. “As a kid, it (Jolly Ranchers) was always around and in college my teammates always used to have a big bag of them.” (Darren Rovell, ESPN)"

Executives for Jolly Rancher are hoping to target the 18-24 year old demographic with the new ad and think Gurley is the spark they need. We’re not sure what an NFL running back dressed in a tutu and singing a children’s song will do to help candy to young men and women, but hey, that’s why we write about sports.

Gurley was apparently happy with his performance at the conclusion of the ad.

"“I didn’t think I would get anything out of it, but I’m glad I did it.” (Rovell, ESPN)"

Hey, if wearing a tutu and eating candy keeps this running back churning out yards at his current rate, keep doing you Gurley. Keep doing you.
