Neither St. Louis Rams quarterback Nick Foles, nor Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford had a great day on Sunday. Both lead their teams to losses and Bradford exited his game early due to injury. However, the final details of compensation in the trade are now clear.

St. Louis will not provide Philadelphia with further compensation for Foles. The Eagles will send an additional 2016 second-round pick to the Rams for Bradford. With Sunday’s loss, Bradford reached or exceeded specific playing time requirements to trigger the additional compensation for St. Louis.

After it was all said and done the Eagles received Bradford and a fifth-round pick that head coach Chip Kelly used to trade up in the draft for Eric Rowe. St. Louis received Foles, a fourth-round selection, which was used to draft Andrew Donnal, and the additional second-round selection in 2016.

With neither team playing very well in 2015, the trade almost seems like a wash at this point, but the additional second-round selection could prove to be very valuable for a Rams team that is clearly desperate for help up front on the offensive line.

Bradford suffered a concussion and an injury to his left shoulder in the second half of Sunday’s loss to the Miami Dolphins. The Eagles announced that Bradford’s injury was not serious, but he would undergo further testing. Philadelphia dropped to 4-5 on the season. As many Rams fans can attest to, Bradford struggled to stay healthy during his time in St. Louis, missing 41 games over five seasons.

Foles has not faired much better in St. Louis and was recently replaced by backup quarterback Case Keenum who was acquired by the Rams in an offseason trade with the Houston Texans. Foles has struggled all season long behind a poor offensive line and weak receiving group. Foles has thrown for over 200-yards just twice all season long, and his 1,678 passing yards are worst in the NFL. He also ranks 32nd in QBR.

St. Louis should benefit from the additional high draft pick as a team that clearly has a lot of needs on the offensive side of the ball. Now the question is whether or not the front office that completed the trade will still be around to reap those benefits.
