No. 4 Janoris Jenkins
It’s #ClampSeason according to Janoris Jenkins, whatever that means. He’s overconfident, aggressive, and flat out stupid at times (seriously, check out his Twitter). This season, however, he’s slowly becoming the lockdown corner the Rams have been waiting for.
When he came out of the University of North Alabama, Jenkins was considered a “risk” due to multiple problems off the field. In fact, Jenkins was attending the University of Florida before he was kicked out for the possession of marijuana. However, Fisher and general manager Les Snead decided to give the troubled young man a chance by selecting him in the second round of the 2012 NFL draft. In Jenkins’s third year, it seems as if the St. Louis Rams are finally cashing in.
It took awhile for Jenkins to become the player he is today. He started off as an immature playmaker under the guidance of veteran corner Cortland Finnegan. He had an amazing rookie campaign, in which he took three interceptions and one fumble recovery for defensive touchdowns.
Unfortunately, his aggressiveness backfired most of the time—choosing to make a break on the ball rather than keeping up with the receiver.
Then the 2015 season came along. However, his game has improved significantly, as he is able to go up against great receivers in the league and limit their production. Jenkins is currently second on the team with two interceptions and first on the team with ten pass deflections.
