No. 1 Aaron Donald

Who else would it have been? Yes, Todd Gurley and Tavon Austin have been the lone sparks on the Rams offense, but Aaron Donald has already established himself as one of the best interior defensive linemen in the NFL.

He’s not a prototypical defensive tackle standing only at 6’1 and 285 pounds. However, his lack of size allows him to get leverage on taller offensive linemen and his incredible strength gives him an advantage on every play.

Donald also explodes off the block with one of the quickest reaction times in the NFL, which makes the man virtually unstoppable on almost every snap. In fact, there have been some instances where Donald has almost received the hand off from the opposing quarterback this season because he gets off the line too quickly for interior linemen. Maybe one day that will actually happen. After all, he’s only getting better.

Donald is already coming off a rookie campaign where he won defensive rookie of the year. He might be on his way to add to his accolades with a defensive player of the year award. He already has 6.0 sacks on the year with 35 tackles. Defensive tackles aren’t supposed to put up those stats, but Aaron Donald somehow does. The way he impacts the game and this already formidable defense is truly outstanding.

The scariest part? Donald is only 24 years old and his development as a player has been exponential thus far. It’s going to be fun watching Aaron Donald dominate the league for years to come.

The St. Louis Rams (4-5) will attempt to break their two-game losing streak when they travel to M&T Bank Stadium to take on the Baltimore Ravens (2-7) in a Week 1 11 matchup. Don’t agree with my rankings of the best players on the Rams this season? Who’s on your list? Comment below!
