The St. Louis Rams continue to fail on both sides of the ball

The St Louis Rams fell to the Cincinnati Bengals in a terrible 7-31 loss, where both the defensive and the offensive struggled to do their jobs in order to compete in this game.

It’s plain and simple for the Rams now, the season is all but over and the team is a complete mess, including the defensive team, who have been the glimmer of hope for this football team this season. The offense has been an issue from the start of the season, and even with the addition of Gurley, the offensive unit is struggling to make any kind of impact.
In addition to this offensive struggle, it must be noted that Greg Robinson notched up even more holding penalties in this game, as he continues to play a prominent role in the failure of this offense.

On the defensive side of the ball game, the Rams have struggled to stop the run and the passing game, as the total offensive yardage posted by the opposition continues to grow and show numbers that are simply too much for the defense to allow if the Rams are to compete.

Nick Foles returned to the starting line up due to the concussion which Case Keenum received against the Ravens, and this was another day for Foles to forget as a Ram. Foles threw three interceptions over a total of 228 yards, with no touchdowns. Foles is getting harder and harder to watch each week, with his poor decision-making and miss understanding with the recievers. His in-accurate throws have been dreadful, with all three of these interceptions came for either a completely off target throw from Foles, or an inaccurate throw to a receiver that was hard to catch.

With both aspects of the football game under par, it is hard to see the Rams progressing up the ladder to a playoff position this season, as this season’s hopes have been shattered by the teams terrible run of 4 losses and inconsistent play.

Last week I asked can the Rams football get any worse than it already is, and the team answered this by getting blown out 7-31 in Cincinnati. Although there have been glimpses of talent in Gurley and particularly in Tavon Austin, Jeff Fisher may be looking at his last year in St Louis as the team’s performances decline each week. The question that fans must be thinking is, how many more seasons can the Rams acquire first round talent and not produce a playoff berth?

"Foles is unable to move the passing attack nor is Gurley able to move the rushing attack, and hence the Rams are unable to move the football in any way"

The Rams need to increase their efforts and the coaching staff need to evaluate their methods and play calling if the Rams are to win any remaining games this season. The Rams should at least look to finish this season with dignity and a trying effort for success, as a way of giving these faithful fans something to cheer about before the season ends.
