November 24th 2015 tragedy struck the football world as St. Louis Rams wide receiver Stedman Bailey was shot twice in the head. Bailey would be in stable condition after the shooting and would require surgery the very next morning. However against all odds, Bailey will be home for the holidays.

More from Rams News

After a month after being shot in the head, Bailey checked out of the hospital and will enjoy some family time this week. Wednesday evening Bailey, was released from the hospital and is home with his family in time for Christmas. It’s incredible to see the progress of Bailey over the past couple of weeks, as he has started jogging and talking with fans via social media.

Bailey also got a surprise this past weekend as teammates Tavon Austin, Trumaine Johnson and others came to visit him while he was still in the hospital. Before the Rams Thursday night victory over the Buccaneers, Coach Jeff Fisher gave the team a surprise video call from Stedman Bailey as he wished the team good luck as that gave the Rams more passion to win it for number 12. It’s glad to finally see number 12 back at home

Bailey was one of five people in the vehicle when it was allegedly approached by another car and someone from vehicle opened fire. Three other people in the car containing Bailey were not wounded. But the driver, Antwan Reeves, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and has made progression along with Bailey. Even with a long road to recovery, Bailey is still keeping his head up as he took to social media once again to explain his thoughts on life.

Bailey was drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft, as his short NFL career could come to a sudden stop. In his career with the Rams, Bailey has caught 59 passes for a total of 843 receiving yards. Coach Fisher has told reports that Bailey’s career is probably over.  Even with his career probably over, it is the best result any fan could have hoped for in this horrible scenario.

Whatever happens for the future of number 12, Rams nation along with the NFL is behind Stedman Bailey. With him being home for the holidays maybe he can see another great St. Louis Rams victory this Sunday. As a fan of Bailey, I hoped to see him on the field one more time, but knowing he is getting stronger each day is the best news. Keep fighting number 12.

Stedman Bailey will always be a member of the St. Louis Rams. Stay tuned for more information to come about the future of Bailey.
