Barring some drastic, life-altering change of heart, we knew a quarterback was going first and that it was more than likely going to be Goff. While I’ve been nitpicking the trade since the beginning and still believe Wentz is the better scheme fit, I believe Fisher and Snead took the more finished product. You can argue Wentz is more NFL ready due to him taking snaps under center, but Goff’s traits will translate better to the next level in Los Angeles. He shows poise and accuracy when throwing into pressure and blitzes and possesses the ability to make the throws at all three levels as he threw 11 touchdowns against four interceptions on throws 20+ yards down the field. What’s often forgotten is that Goff was 1-11 as a true freshman starter before leading the program to 8-5 this past season in an Air Raid offense with a poor defense. It’s evident he elevated the performance of those around him and looks to do the same at the next level.
