19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Speaking of Marcus Mariota and the success from the 2015 NFL Draft, it was also amazing to see the Tampa Bay Buccaneers fall just shy of reaching the playoffs as well during their second year with Jameis Winston under center. Even if it was the defense of the Buccaneers that played a big part in helping this team make a surprise run in the NFC, Winston proved this year he’s come a long way from a maturity perspective, as the future appears to be bright for the former Florida State star.

After recording five wins in a row in the middle of the season, Tampa Bay seemed capable of knocking off the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC South before losing two key games to the Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints. What was even more frustrating for the Buccaneers is even after falling short of winning the division, the team was in good shape to at least earn a Wild Card spot in the NFC.

Despite falling short of their postseason goals, Tampa Bay has no reason to keep their heads down as this should still be considered a successful season. If anything, the momentum should carry over into next season for the Buccaneers when it comes to being contenders in the NFC, as long as their defense doesn’t take a step back.
