2017 NFL Draft Order: Updated Selections Heading Into Divisional Round
By Dan Parzych
20. Denver Broncos
Everybody knew the Denver Broncos would be going through an adjustment period when Trevor Siemian took over as the starting quarterback, but nobody could have predicted his first season as the starter would turn out to be this rough. For a quarterback to struggle a majority of the year with reliable weapons like Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders in the passing game, there’s no excuse for Siemian to play like he did, experienced or not.
All of a sudden, the Broncos find themselves in an interesting situation entering the offseason when it comes to whether Siemian deserves another chance to prove himself. Even if Denver will most likely give him a shot once again in 2017 now that he has a year of experience under his belt, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the team at least consider a backup plan.
There’s simply too much talent on the defensive side of the football for the Broncos to let another season go to waste when they could easily be legit contenders in the AFC. Plus, it’s also safe to assume that Denver will be extra motivated to bounce back after going from winning the Super Bowl to missing the playoffs the following year.
