21. Detroit Lions

About a month ago, the Detroit Lions were considered one of the hottest teams in the NFC and in amazing position to win the NFC North title over the Green Bay Packers. Unfortunately, an injury to Matthew Stafford played a big part in the team losing their final three games of the regular season before going on to lose against the Seattle Seahawks on Wild Card Weekend.

If only Detroit had won at least one of those final three games to end the season, they could have still been alive since they would have hosted a home game in the first round of the playoffs, but there’s nothing they can do about it now. Instead of playing next weekend, the Lions are left wondering what could have been heading into the offseason, as the team will hopefully focus on making key additions to the defense.

The defense certainly looked impressive at times, but once again, Detroit learned the hard way this year that most of the time, the only way to win the division is by containing Green Bay’s offense. If that’s going to happen in the future, the Lions’ defense is going to need to improve in multiple positions.
