2017 NFL Draft Order: Updated Selections Heading Into Divisional Round
By Dan Parzych
2. San Francisco 49ers
It only took the San Francisco 49ers one year to realize the Chip Kelly experiment was a complete failure after the head coach was fired shortly after the regular season came to an official end. After failed stints with the 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles, it’s safe to say Kelly isn’t made to be a coach at the NFL level, and here’s to hoping he ends up returning to college sooner rather than later.
San Francisco’s only two wins from the 2016 season happened to come against the Los Angeles Rams in Week1 and Week 16, which means the team had a 13-game losing streak going at one point. With Kelly officially out of the picture, the next task for the 49ers will hopefully be finally moving on from Colin Kaepernick at quarterback.
There was originally some excitement regarding Kaepernick in Kelly’s offense, but that obviously didn’t work out since San Francisco’s offense ranks near the bottom of the league. Just like the Cleveland Browns, here’s to hoping the 49ers are smart enough to take advantage of this year’s quarterback class when the time comes in a few months.
Otherwise, San Francisco is only going to be holding their offense back from improving after this disastrous two-win season.
