6. New York Jets

How much of a disappointment were the New York Jets in 2016? For a team that fell just short of the playoffs during the previous season, this was supposed to be the year the Jets took the next step to reach the postseason, especially after making the decision to bring back Ryan Fitzpatrick for another season.

Obviously, that was far from the case after New York ended up being one of the worst teams in the league with a 5-11 record to secure the sixth overall pick in April’s draft. With all of the money and time wasted on Fitzpatrick, one can only hope the Jets would focus on fixing their issues at quarterback in the offseason, especially when seeing all of the options they had to work with in the preseason.

Bryce Petty showed potential at times towards the end of the 2016 season after receiving unexpected playing time, but New York would be foolish to rely on him moving forward. Whether it ends up being through free agency or the draft, the Jets need to figure out their situation at quarterback if they have any intention of bouncing back from their five-win season.

If not, well let’s just say New York could be heading into another year of finishing at the bottom of the AFC East.
