10. Houston Texans

When it comes to the biggest regrets from the 2016 season, it’s hard to top the decision by the Houston Texans to reward Brock Osweiler with a contract he clearly doesn’t deserve. Watching Osweiler earn the money he’s making despite throwing more interceptions than touchdowns during the regular season is simply pathetic to think about.

To top it all off, the argument will always be made that Houston could have taken down the New England Patriots in the Divisional Round of the playoffs with any other quarterback under center besides Osweiler. For the most part, the Texans’ defense did everything they were supposed to by keeping Tom Brady in check, and even found a way to record two interceptions on the future Hall of Famer, matching his total from the regular season.

Even if Houston wanted to give up on Osweiler, it would be more difficult to do thanks to all of the guaranteed money listed in his contract. This team has spent years establishing one of the league’s top defenses, and has always been a reliable quarterback away from reaching their true potential.

Until Osweiler proves himself worthy, the quarterback position is going to continue holding Houston back from a contender standpoint.
