Los Angeles Rams Reportedly Meeting With Free Agent LB Connor Barwin
By Dan Parzych
Former Philadelphia Eagles star Connor Barwin will reportedly meet with the Los Angeles Rams on Wednesday.
After missing out on Jarvis Jones, the Los Angeles Rams are still in search of another linebacker to add to their squad for the 2017 season, as the defense looks to shine during the first year with Wade Phillips at defensive coordinator. Turns out, the Rams have scheduled a meeting with one of Phillips’ former players back during his days with the Houston Texans in Connor Barwin.

According to Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times, Barwin is scheduled to meet with Los Angeles on Wednesday, which would be a great addition to Phillips’ defense. The Philadelphia Eagles recently released Barwin in order to free up more than $7 million in cap space, but it’s safe to say this was one of those business moves that was tough for the organization to accept when looking at his numbers from the last few seasons.
Barwin has recorded 22.5 sacks over the last three years, and on top of that, he hasn’t missed a single start dating back to the 2011 season. Not to mention, it was Phillips who was defensive coordinator during Barwin’s first full season as a starter with the Texans back in 2011, in which he managed to record 11.5 sacks.

The fact that Barwin was willing to make the switch from linebacker to defensive end for Philadelphia in 2016 shows the type of leader and team player he truly is on the football field. With all of the teams still in need of a linebacker, here’s to hoping Los Angeles acts fast on Barwin, and convinces him to reunite with Phillips as a member of the Rams for the 2017 season.
