After failing to live up to the hype last season, here are five reasons why Todd Gurley will bounce back with the Los Angeles Rams in 2017.

To say last year was a disappointment for Todd Gurley of the Los Angeles Rams would be a major understatement when considering how much hype there was surrounding the running back after taking home Rookie of the Year honors in 2015. After rushing for 1,106 yards with 10 touchdowns as a rookie, Gurley failed to even record a single 100-yard game during his sophomore season with the Rams, which nobody could have predicted in a million years.

Even before the regular season officially got underway, Gurley felt confident enough to declare fantasy football owners should strongly consider selecting him with the No. 1 overall pick in leagues. Clearly, Gurley most likely regrets making those comments, but the former Georgia standout shouldn’t receive the entire blame for the struggles that took place in 2016.

Between the offense only averaging 14 points per game to a weak offensive line that struggled to protect Jared Goff in the second half of the year, there was plenty of blame to go around for Los Angeles losing 11 of 12 games following a 3-1 start. With that being said, the Rams have been keeping themselves busy over the last few weeks in free agency, and certainly deserve credit for making the necessary moves to improve from last year’s 4-12 finish.

Of course, if Los Angeles is going to take the next step in the right direction to get closer to becoming contenders again in the NFC, the team is going to need more production from Gurley in the ground game. Thanks to these five factors, there’s every reason in the world to believe Gurley will bounce back for the Rams in 2017.
