Week 1: Dallas Cowboys (Home)

Believe it or not, it was the Dallas Cowboys that were lucky enough to face the Los Angeles Rams during their first game back in California, and despite Jeff Fisher‘s squad winning the game, it was Dak Prescott that stood out the most in this one. Not only did Prescott earn the start over Tony Romo, but as every football fans knows, the former Mississippi State standout would eventually go on to claim the starting job during the regular season while leading the Cowboys to the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

Early indications are Dallas will be one of the top contenders in the NFC once again, but it will be interesting to see how they come out facing off against one of their former head coaches in Wade Phillips. The new Rams defensive coordinator almost spent four seasons with the Cowboys from 2007-10 (fired in Week 9), and while it all worked out fine for Phillips since he eventually would go on to win a Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos, it’s safe to say he would love to show what his new defense is capable of against a high-powered offense like Dallas.

The Cowboys may struggle early on thanks to some changes with the offensive line, but as long as Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott remain healthy, this is going to be one tough team to beat. Just like last year, the Rams will certainly have their hands full in this one, as it will be an early test to see how they stack up against the defending NFC East champions.
