Los Angeles Rams and Dallas Cowboys Expressing Most Interest in USC’s JuJu Smith-Schuster?
By Dan Parzych
The Los Angeles Rams have expressed interest in JuJu Smith-Schuster once the 2017 NFL Draft gets underway next week.
The Los Angeles Rams may be at a disadvantage when compared to most teams in the 2017 NFL Draft since they don’t currently have a first-round pick, but that shouldn’t stop them from filling their need at wide receiver. Over the last few weeks, the Rams have been linked to numerous wide receivers, and one of the top names to keep an eye on once the draft is officially underway is JuJu Smith-Schuster out of USC.

The former Trojans wide receiver is considered one of the best players at his position from this year’s draft class, and there’s a good chance Smith-Schuster will still be on the board when Los Angeles is up for the first time at No. 37. Not only did the Rams express interest in Smith-Schuster during their meeting at the combine, but also the wideout didn’t hold back last month by saying he wouldn’t mind staying in the Los Angeles area since that’s where his family is.
Obviously, this comment could easily apply to the Los Angeles Chargers, but they haven’t been expressing the same level of interest as the Rams over the last few months. Only time will tell when it comes to where Smith-Schuster’s new home will be for the 2017 season, but at least it seems clear when it comes to the top teams showing interest in the wideout.
As great as it would be for a talented player who caught 20 touchdowns over his final two college seasons to end up with a team like the Dallas Cowboys, it wouldn’t make as much sense for them to use one of their early picks on Smith-Schuster. Nothing against Smith-Schuster from a talent perspective, but the Cowboys don’t have as much of a need at wide receiver since they seem to be set for years to come with players like Dez Bryant, Cole Beasley, and Terrance Williams.

Then again, Dallas could easily pull one of the biggest shocks of the first round by selecting the USC standout at No. 28, which would only make their high-powered offense even more dangerous. For the sake of the Rams, and their desperate need of help in the passing game to provide Jared Goff with more weapons, here’s to hoping the Cowboys don’t end up selecting Smith-Schuster at No. 28 so he can possibly still be available at No. 37 on Friday.
