2. San Francisco 49ers: Stanford DE Solomon Thomas

Just like the Cleveland Browns, the San Francisco 49ers find themselves in position where they could address numerous needs with the second overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. And while reports have emerged over the last few days surrounding the possibility of the team using the pick on a quarterback, the 49ers will hopefully be wise enough to realize Stanford’s Solomon Thomas is the best choice in this spot.

Along with Myles Garrett, Thomas is considered one of the top defensive ends from this year’s draft class, and he seems like the perfect candidate to have San Francisco build their defense around. His weight may be an issue heading into the draft, but hopefully Thomas can make the necessary adjustments to be an effective pass rusher like he was at Stanford.

The good news for the 49ers is after only winning two games during the 2016 season, the organization has taken the proper steps to make sure that doesn’t happen again next year, including key additions in free agency. Hopefully, this trend will continue for San Francisco on Thursday when Thomas seems like a strong possibility at No. 2 to help make life easier for Kyle Shanahan during his first season as head coach.
