After falling out of the first round, USC WR JuJu Smith-Schuster could be in play for the Los Angeles Rams at No. 37 in the 2017 NFL Draft.

With the 2017 NFL Draft officially underway, the Los Angeles Rams found themselves at a disadvantage in the first round after surrendering the No. 5 pick to the Tennessee Titans as part of last year’s deal to land Jared Goff. Still, the Rams still have plenty of great options to work with early on in the second round with the 37th overall pick, and the one name to keep an eye on heading into Friday is wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster.

The USC standout has been on the radar for Los Angeles over the last couple of months, and rightfully so when seeing the level of production Smith-Schuster brought to the table during the last three years with the Trojans. For a team that unfortunately had one of the weakest receiving corps during the 2016 season, Goff and the Rams’ offense could certainly benefit from the addition of someone like Smith-Schuster when considering the wideout found the end zone 20 times over the last two seasons.

From the beginning, Los Angeles knew drafting Smith-Schuster was always a strong possibility since there were plenty of other talented wide receivers ahead of him that would most likely go in the first round. And thanks to certain teams, such as the Dallas Cowboys, focusing on other needs in the first round, the Rams find themselves in great position to land Smith-Schuster on Friday.

After a successful start to free agency with key additions like Andrew Whitworth, wide receiver was one of two positions (offensive line) Los Angeles was expected to focus on the most with their first pick in the NFL Draft. Smith-Schuster and Rams fans will be anxious to see what happens on the second day, but here’s to hoping the four teams selecting before No. 37 focus on other areas to help Los Angeles earn the USC wideout they’ve been showing strong interest in bringing on board.
