As if the 8-3 start wasn’t already impressive enough, the 2017 Los Angeles Rams are not part of NFL history with four other teams.

After only winning four games all of last year while ranking dead last by averaging just 14 points per game, the Los Angeles Rams seemed to be in a position where they could only go up following the hiring of Sean McVay. Throughout the years, McVay had drawn heavy praise for being an offensive mastermind when looking at how successful the former coordinator to the Washington Redskins had been with the development of Kirk Cousins, which the Rams were hoping to see similar results with Jared Goff.

Originally, Los Angeles fans expected Goff to take at least a year or two to become comfortable in McVay’s system, but the former California star wasted no time he was well worth the No. 1 pick in 2016 by quickly buying in to what his new head coach was selling. Without Goff elevating his game to an elite level that has even helped him join the MVP conversation, there’s no chance the Rams would be sitting at 8-3, let alone be part of a rare group in NFL history.

Around this time last year, never in a million years could Los Angeles fans have believed their beloved team would have this quick of a turnaround, but here they are sitting with a 8-3 record heading into their Week 13 battle against the Arizona Cardinals. And to see the Rams now be part of NFL history along with these four other teams thanks to their current record, it’s kind of cool to see after all of the years of let down under Jeff Fisher.

With that being said, a mark in history like this won’t be as meaningful if Los Angeles falls short of their real goal in making the playoffs, better yet, maybe even the Super Bowl. Either way, no matter what happens over this final stretch, the important factor to consider is Rams fans have every reason in the world to be thrilled in the direction this team is heading under McVay, and his first year as head coach has been an amazing, unexpected surprise with this team on the verge of earning a trip to the playoffs.
