Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay was questioned about “micromanaging” his second year quarterback, Jared Goff. If the results thus far are 8-3, I’d say he’s doing it just right.

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff has just the right ally and head coach in first year man Sean McVay.

For those who are critical that McVay is micromanaging Goff, I say, “so what!”

Goff has shown tremendous growth in 2017. And coming off of a disastrous seven game stretch that defined his rookie season, a guru like McVay is probably welcome in the second year quarterbacks’ camp.

Let’s be honest about the fact that as defensively centric as the Rams have been, is as offensively centric as Los Angeles is now.

Looking back at the last decade, that isn’t a bad thing.

Goff has been a pleasant surprise all things being equal. If you’d of told me in August that the Rams would be 8-3, leading the NFC West, and he’d be in the discussion for a possibly NFL MVP award, I’d bust out laughing.

But he’s been that good.

In retrospect, given that Jeff Fisher was his previous head coach and he was THAT bad, and McVay is his coach now and he’s THAT good, means that whatever the first year head coach is doing, is working.

That’s all that matters.

However long McVay may or may not be in his ear at the line of scrimmage is irrelevant. Especially when you’re 8-3.

I’d imagine if you asked Goff, such talk of “micromanaging” wouldn’t be much of a talking point given where he was a year ago at this time.

Bottom line, if it’s working it’s working.

Who wouldn’t be OK with that?
