As clutch as Todd Gurley was for the Los Angeles Rams in Week 16 against the Tennessee Titans, Jared Goff deserves plenty of credit as well.

For the first time since 2003, the Los Angeles Rams officially clinched the NFC West title thanks to a thrilling 27-23 win in Week 16 against the Tennessee Titans, meaning the team will get to host at least one playoff game come January. After only winning four games all of last year, the Rams were expected to go through a year of rebuilding under first year head coach Sean McVay, but obviously that is far from the case since this team has become one of the most dangerous in the NFL this season, with Todd Gurley and Jared Goff playing big roles in making that happen.

Early on in the season, Gurley worked his way into the conversation, and rightfully so when looking at some of the insane numbers he was putting up on a weekly basis, including six total touchdowns over the team’s first three games. And while Gurley’s name wasn’t discussed as much in the middle of the season, the last few performances put together by the former first-round pick have helped the running back work his way into the MVP conversation, maybe even the favorite at this point.

From his four-touchdown performance in Week 15 against the Seattle Seahawks to recently recording 276 yards from the line of scrimmage to go along with two touchdowns against the Titans, it’s easy to see why Gurley has emerged out of nowhere as a top candidate to take home MVP honors. But as dominating as Gurley’s performance against Tennessee was, Goff deserves just as much credit when looking at the impact he was able to make on offense to help Los Angeles pull through with the win.

Next: Rams win in Tennessee is rich in irony

Not only did both of Gurley’s touchdowns come on passes from Goff, but the former No. 1 pick ended up tossing four touchdowns in total against the Titans, all while completing 22 of 38 passes for 301 yard with no turnovers. With one game to go, Goff is not only 196 passing yards away from the 4,000-yard mark in 2017, but two more touchdown passes will give him a total of 30 on the year. So as much credit as Gurley deserves for making a strong case for MVP, Goff deserves just as much praise, as this offensive duo continues to show on a weekly basis why they’re considered one of the best in the NFL.
