Believe it or not, Sean McVay predicted this kind of season from Todd Gurley back before the Los Angeles Rams started training camp.

Last offseason, the Los Angeles Rams took a huge gamble by making Sean McVay the youngest head coach in NFL history, and even though it’s only been one year, the risk has already paid off in ways nobody ever could have imagined. After only winning four games all of last year while averaging just 14 points per game, the Rams have worked their way to being one of the most dangerous teams in the NFL, and as crazy as it is to believe, there are a lot of experts that believe this team has what it takes to earn a trip to the Super Bowl.

Of course, Los Angeles needs to take the approach of focusing on one game at a time since there is plenty of competition standing in their way such as the Minnesota Vikings or Philadelphia Eagles. But for now, at least the Rams are fortunate enough to be enjoying what has become a memorable second season back in Los Angeles.

All things considered, there are numerous reasons behind the success of the Rams during their first year under McVay, but at the end of the day, the biggest factor of all has been the MVP level of play from Todd Gurley on offense. Never in a million years did Los Angeles fans expect to see Gurley put up the kind of numbers (2,093 yards from the line of scrimmage with 19 total touchdowns) he has in 2017, but apparently McVay had a feeling his beloved running back was capable of having this type of season back before training camp.

Making a bold prediction like that seemed like a stretch for a running back that failed to record a single 100-yard rushing season in 2016, but then again, it’s safe to assume that McVay understood knew what his group of players were capable of, especially with Gurley on offense. Watching Gurley turn things around this fast has been amazing to witness, and give McVay plenty of credit since this MVP type of run most certainly wouldn’t have happened if he wasn’t brought on board as head coach.
