During a recent interview, Les Snead made it clear he wants to make sure Brandin Cooks is around for the long run with the Los Angeles Rams.

Losing Sammy Watkins in free agency to the Kansas City Chiefs seemed like a tough blow at the time for the Los Angeles Rams, but when seeing how the team would eventually land Brandin Cooks, everything seemed to work out just fine. In fact, based off how the two speedsters compare on paper, early signs point to the Rams being better off with Cooks over Watkins, although only time will tell.

Luckily, Cooks will have a huge advantage since he gets to spend the next few months building chemistry with Jared Goff while Watkins originally came to Los Angeles last August, meaning he quickly had to play catch up. For an offense that was already loaded with talent at receiver thanks to Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp, one can only imagine how much more dangerous the Rams are going to be now that Cooks is part of the picture.

Even better, there’s nothing Los Angeles would love more than to make sure that Cooks ends up being around for the long run instead of being a one-and-done like Watkins. So when Les Snead recently took part in an interview discussing his intentions to make this happen for Cooks, Rams fans have plenty of reasons to be smiling over the thought of the possibility.

Then again, Los Angeles fans would prefer to see a deal get completed sooner with Cooks rather than later since the whole situation surrounding Aaron Donald‘s contract is the perfect example of how these things can drag on. Thanks to last year’s surprise success, expectations for the Rams are higher than ever, and if all goes well, Sean McVay‘s team will be in position to be a serious Super Bowl contender for years to come.

If that is in fact going to happen, Snead understands the importance of making sure Cooks is around for the long run as well to make sure Goff has a reliable deep threat to work with in the passing game. Snead’s recent comments about wanting to get a deal done are obviously a great sign, but for the sake of the Rams, let’s hope things get taken care of before training camp to give the team one less thing to worry about.
