According to a recent study to determine the most loyal fans in the NFL, the Los Angeles Rams came in at No. 31.

Thanks to last year’s surprise success in which they ended up winning the NFC West during Sean McVay‘s first season as head coach, expectations are higher than ever for the Los Angeles Rams heading into the 2018 season.

However, when it comes to comparing their fan base to others across the league, it looks like the Rams are in need of a little work.

Some of the folks over at Emory University recently conducted a study by taking numerous data into consideration to determine the best fan bases in the NFL, and it turns out Los Angeles ranks near the bottom at No. 31, with only the Tennessee Titans behind them.

At first, this statistic may seem a little embarrassing for the Rams since they were coming off an impressive 2017 campaign in which they won the NFC West over the Seattle Seahawks. But also, let’s keep in mind the team is still adjusting to playing in a new city after making the move back to Los Angeles two years ago from St. Louis.

Yes, there were plenty of Rams fans from the good old days that were thrilled to see the team come back, but the fan base clearly still needs a little more time to reach their true potential. Not to mention, Los Angeles doesn’t even have their own stadium to play in yet since the new field in Inglewood isn’t going to be open until the 2020 season.

By then, the Rams will hopefully have a stronger fan base in California, and potentially end up higher on this study from Emory.

Around this time last year, Los Angeles was expected to be going through a year of rebuilding while adjusting to McVay’s system, only to give fans plenty to cheer about after making a surprise playoff run. And if fans were thrilled over how great the Rams looked in 2017, one can only imagine what it’s going to be like this upcoming season.

Thanks to numerous key additions ranging from the signing of Ndamukong Suh to acquiring Brandin Cooks, Los Angeles watched their Super Bowl odds skyrocket over the last couple of months.

Living up to the high expectations isn’t going to be easy, but at least if they can receive strong support from the Rams fan base, it will be much easier to achieve.
