While Aaron Donald continues to wait for a new contract from the Los Angeles Rams, at least the defensive star earned a 99 rating for Madden 99.

With the beginning of July only a few days away, Los Angeles Rams fans continue to be frustrated over the fact that Aaron Donald is still without a new contract.

By now, Donald and Rams fans figured both sides would have been able to figure everything out since talks had been going on since the middle of last season, but at the moment, a deal still isn’t in place.

When looking at how quickly Donald has established himself as one of the league’s top defensive players, there’s no question the former Pittsburgh star deserves to be one of the league’s highest paid players.

The 11 sacks and five forced fumbles recorded in 14 games during the 2017 season may not seem all that impressive when compared to other players, but also keep in mind that Donald displayed these numbers while receiving extra attention from defenders.

In fact, Donald recently received honors from the folks at EA Sports for being one of seven players that were fortunate enough to earn a 99 rating in the upcoming Madden 99 video game, which even earned him a trophy, as shown in the video below.

As the tweet says, it only seems fitting to see No. 99 earn the 99 rating to add to the long list of reasons why the Rams need to stop wasting time, and finally pay Donald to avoid another situation like last summer.

Donald may have eventually showed up after preseason, but Los Angeles doesn’t want to put themselves in a position where their beloved defensive star is unhappy towards the organization, and doesn’t want to be around for the long run.

Plus, unlike last season, Donald only has one year remaining on his rookie contract, meaning if a deal isn’t reached sooner rather than later, there will be a lot of uncertainty heading into next offseason.

After emerging as a surprise playoff contender last season, the Rams appear to be in great position to make a run at the Super Bowl for years to come. But if Donald isn’t part of the picture, it will only hurt the chances of Los Angeles living up to the hype, so why waste anymore time delaying a new deal?
