Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay came in at No. 13 on rankings conducted by NFL.com

During the 2017 offseason, the Los Angeles Rams took a huge risk by hiring Sean McVay as the youngest head coach in NFL history since many believed his age put the team at a huge disadvantage when compared to some of the other candidates.

However, when seeing the kind of impact McVay made for the Rams during his first season as head coach, nobody is questioning the team’s decision anymore.

At first, Los Angeles was expected to go through a year or two of rebuilding while players adjusted to playing in McVay’s system, but the team would go on to become one of the best surprises from the 2017 season after winning the NFC West.

Losing to the Atlanta Falcons on Wild Card Weekend was tough to deal with since many believed the Rams had the talent to win the Super Bowl, but the good news is this loss can be used as a learning experience moving forward.

Without question, McVay has quickly made a name for himself as one of the league’s top head coaches, and if his first year is any indication of what the future holds, the Rams are going to be in amazing shape for years to come.

However, it looks like last year’s accomplishments weren’t even good enough to help McVay land in the top 10 of NFL coach rankings from Elliott Harrison.

First off, let the record show that every writer deserves to have their own opinion when it comes to a ranking like this, but seeing McVay come in at No. 13 certainly caught Rams fans by surprise. Yes, the argument can be made that McVay started off so low because it was his first NFL season, and he needs to prove that what happened last year wasn’t just a one-time occurrence.

Still, it is surprising to see a coach like McVay that took a four-win team coming off a 2016 season in which they ranked dead last by averaging just 14 points per game not even finish in the top 10 on a list like this.

Assuming the Rams come through in 2018 by living up to the hype of being one of the top contenders to make a run at the Super Bowl, at least McVay will hopefully see his name higher on the list around this time next year.
