Running Back. (2004-12). Steven Jackson. 14. player. 51.

Replacing one of the greatest running backs to ever play the football game in Marshall Faulk is never an easy to task to deal with. But Steven Jackson deserves plenty of credit for the way he embraced the opportunity in 2005 when he took over the starting role for the Rams.

After easing his way into the NFL as a rookie the year before by rushing for 673 yards with four touchdowns in 14 games, Jackson took a major leap during his sophomore campaign. He put together his first of eight seasons in a row of at least 1,000 rushing yards.

In fact, it was Jackson’s third NFL season in 2006 that ended up being the best of his career. He rushed for 1,528 yards to go along with 13 touchdowns, which was good enough to earn the running back a trip to the Pro Bowl.

Not to mention, Jackson proved to be effective in the passing game as well that season. He ended up catching 90 passes for 806 yards with three trips into the end zone. This made the Rams feel better about not having Faulk.

At the moment, Jackson currently sits in the top spot when it comes to the all-time rushing yards for the Rams at 10,138. That being said, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if Todd Gurley one day took the crown from Jackson. He’s one of the best running backs in the game today and still in the midst of his prime.

Still, just the fact that Jackson was able to work his way to the top while passing players like Faulk and Eric Dickerson shows what kind of impact he made during his playing days with the Rams as a top running back in the league.
