1. Leading rusher for Rams in preseason has been Kelly

In what has been one of the biggest surprises for Los Angeles through two games in the preseason, Kelly has wasted little time showing he was worth the late-round selection in April’s draft by leading the team in rushing yards in each of those games. With Brown and Davis having NFL experience under their belts, Kelly seemed to be at a disadvantage compared to his teammates when it came to where he stood on the depth chart, but all of that seems like it’s about to change.

Thanks to an impressive preseason, Kelly all of a sudden seems to have just as good of a chance to win the role of backup running back to Gurley as Brown and Davis, especially if he continues to play well during the final two games. It’s certainly not going to be easy, but when seeing the high level of confidence Kelly seems to be playing with at the moment, why shouldn’t he like his chances?

Going from a sixth-round pick with a long shot at earning playing time as a rookie to taking on a significant role would be amazing for Kelly, and he would certainly deserve the chance if given the opportunity by McVay. After leading the Rams in rushing for the first two games, now it’s up to Kelly to finish the preseason on a high note over these final weeks before roster cuts become official.
