7. Mike Thomas

On paper, the Rams have the potential to end up with one of the league’s top trios at wide receiver thanks to Brandin Cooks, Robert Woods, and Cooper Kupp. Most quarterbacks would do anything to be in the position Jared Goff finds himself in heading into his third NFL season with this trio of talent to work with on top of having Todd Gurley lining up in the backfield.

In other words, it’s easy to see why Los Angeles is expected to have one of the top offenses once again, although there’s still questions beyond their top three receivers. Mike Thomas along with Pharoh Cooper and Josh Reynolds were supposed to provide fans with one of the most exciting position battles in August by competing for the No. 4 or No. 5 wide receiver spot.

By catching two passes so far in preseason for 21 yards, Thomas hasn’t done anything spectacular on offense to set himself aside from the rest of his teammates competing for one of the spots as well. Los Angeles has been more than patient since Thomas came on board back in 2016, and with eight career catches to his name, the team needs to decide if he’s really worth keeping around.
