3. Rams catch break with late fumble

No matter how confident the Rams felt about taking a 29-27 lead late in the fourth quarter, deep down they knew it was far from over since Aaron Rodgers is under center for the Packers. Throughout his career on numerous occasions, Rodgers has pulled off some incredible comebacks when all hope seemed lost for Green Bay, and with plenty of time remaining, Los Angeles looked like they would become one of his latest victims.

Instead, Rodgers didn’t even take the field since on the ensuing kickoff, Ty Montgomery fumbled the football, allowing the Rams to close out the game by running out the clock. And for the fantasy football owners upset with Todd Gurley‘s decision to fall before the end zone since it would have been easy points to seal the game, keep in mind this was the right decision from a winning perspective since who knows what would have happened on the potential extra point.

Sure, the argument can be made that Los Angeles would have figured out a way to stop Rodgers during that final drive, but also the defense should just be happy they didn’t even have to worry about it. Sometimes, the best way to defeat the Packers is keeping Rodgers off the field as much as possible, so this worked out perfect for the Rams at the end of the game.
