3. Goff is nowhere near Mahomes

Back in the offseason, the Kansas City Chiefs made a bold statement by sending Alex Smith to the Washington Redskins to allow the Patrick Mahomes era to get underway earlier than expected.

Turns out, this was the best decision the Chiefs ever could have made when seeing how Mahomes already has 43 touchdown passes to his name for the 2018 season, and the crazy thing is there are still three games to go.

Like most young quarterbacks, Mahomes has a few areas in need of improvement, but when seeing how his numbers have put Kansas City in great position to potentially earn the top seed in the AFC, this is what really matters the most.

While Gurley and Drew Brees have always seemed like the two top players that would give Mahomes a run for the money when it comes to winning the award, all signs at the moment point to the Chiefs quarterback taking home the honors.

Breaking Peyton Manning’s record of 55 touchdown passes in a single-season may seem like a stretch at this point, but when looking at some of the previous performances by Mahomes, this doesn’t seem that crazy at all.

Plus, if this were to happen, it would only make the chances of Mahomes winning the award that much more of a guarantee.
