3. Gurley’s health

Even though Todd Gurley‘s knee injury suffered in Week 15 against the Philadelphia Eagles was only minor, the last thing the Rams wanted to do was put their star running back at risk during the final two weeks of the regular season.

Yes, this was a difficult decision by Los Angeles since they were technically still in the hunt for the No. 2 seed in the NFC with Chicago on their trial. But with the signing of C.J. Anderson as insurance along with favorable games against the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers, the Rams felt confident enough in being able to get by the final two weeks without Gurley, which worked out perfect.

By allowing Gurley to gain the extra rest, last season’s runner up to the MVP award will now have three weeks of rest before the Divisional Round, whether it happens to be against the Cowboys or Bears.

Of course, just because Gurley is extra rested doesn’t necessarily mean he’s guaranteed to return to his normal ways. If anything, this is going to be one of the main questions in need of answering in the days leading up to the game since, as bad as it sounds, no one really knows what to expect.
