2. Rodger Saffold

Cards on the table, Los Angeles knows that Rodger Saffold isn’t getting any younger, and if they were to move on from the veteran tackle, it wouldn’t really come as that much of a surprise.

With that being said, Saffold has played a key role in the improvement of the offensive line over the last two seasons under McVay to make sure Goff receives the necessary protection under center, so the Rams will take that into consideration as well.

Saffold hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down any time soon, and since the pressure will already be high on Goff with the offense following the Super Bowl, that protection from the offensive line is going to be extremely important in 2019.

Goff learned the hard way as a rookie in 2016 just how difficult it can be to succeed in the NFL without the proper support from the offensive line, and while Andrew Whitworth has received most of the credit for the improved offensive line since then, Saffold has been valuable as well.

Since Saffold will be 31 by the start of next season, a short-term deal at the right price will hopefully come into consideration for Los Angeles. Otherwise, Saffold could be tough to replace from a reliability perspective.
